14 Years ago I was a Jersey Boy moved to Southern California. It had every thing I needed at the time..Except Pizza. The Life Blood of any Italian from Jersey. Searched everywhere. No, I don’t want “Just like they make it in Italy” . No NO California style. I want NYC/Jersey style pizza. Got so bad I started making my own. But who wants to spend two days preparing something just for a “Slice”.
Then about 7 or 8 years ago Luigi opened a place just down the road from where I was living at the time. I couldn’t believe it when I stepped in there the first time…and they sold Pizza BY THE SLICE, the way it should be. No I don’t want a “Personal Pizza”. I want Two Slices and a Coke (Diet Please). Ahh.. I wouldn’t die of Lack of Pizza after all
Then Luigi sold the place and I lost track of him. But then I caught up with him again at his Golden Hill, San Diego place. His stuff was so good it was even featured on TV’s the Food Network.
Now Luigi has Open another location in Little Italy, RIGHT NEXT DOOR to the local’s favorite place. ( No comparison, theirs is… yuck). This is the Best Pizza you will find, West Coast or East Coast.
So if you are visiting San Diego, Make sure you stop into Pizzeria Luigi, 1827 India Street in Little Italy, Or one of his two other locations
